How to film a run.

Good footage does most of the work. Any recent phone will do, as long as the file arrives the way it was filmed.

Before you press record

Six things decide how well the skier can be tracked.

Where to stand

Risegate works from a flat image, so it only sees movement across the picture. Pick the view for what you want to work on.

From behind or in front. Stand below or above the skier, looking along the slope. Shows turns and rhythm, lean into each turn, and left-versus-right balance Beta.
From the side. Stand beside the course, level with the skier. Shows front-to-back balance (whether you sit back) and hip bend.

Set the phone to 60 fps

On an iPhone: Settings, then Camera, then Record Video. Pick 4K at 60 fps, or 1080p at 60 fps if space is tight. On Android, the frame rate is in the camera app's video settings.

Get the file across

AirDrop, a cable or the Files app keep the video as it was filmed. Messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage and Instagram shrink it first, and the skier gets harder to track.

Get the early beta.

Risegate is still being tested on real runs. Leave your email and you'll be among the first to try it when the beta opens.
